India attacked to punish terrorists backed by Pakistan after a deadly attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, on April 22, 2025, killed 26 people, mostly Indian tourists. The attackers targeted Hindu men, leaving many widows.

Nine terrorist camps were targeted—four in Pakistan (like Markaz Subhan Allah in Bahawalpur) and five in PoK (like Syedna Bilal Camp in Muzaffarabad). These were run by Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) and Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT). India said 24 strikes hit these sites.

The attack happened between 1:05 AM and 1:30 AM using missiles, drones, and Rafale jets with SCALP and HAMMER weapons, all launched from Indian soil to avoid a bigger fight. Bengaluru-made SkyStriker drones were used for the first time.
