20-Year-Old Woman Dragged to Death in Delhi on New Year’s Day, Protests Erupt

The shocking death of a 20-year-old woman in Delhi on New Year’s Day has sent shockwaves throughout India.

The woman, who worked as an event manager, reportedly returned home from work on her scooter when she collided with a car.

According to police, the driver of the car, which had four other passengers, continued driving with the woman’s body trapped underneath the vehicle, dragging it for miles.

CCTV footage has surfaced showing the victim’s body beneath the car.

Police searched for the car after receiving two calls on the morning of January 2nd, one reporting a woman being dragged by a Maruti Baleno car and another reporting the woman’s body lying on the road in north Delhi.

The suspects have been charged with culpable homicide and causing death by negligence.

The victim’s family alleges that she was sexually assaulted before being killed, though police have not confirmed this.

Protests have erupted in Delhi over the incident, with the Aam Aadmi Party, which governs the city, blaming the federal government for weak security and calling for the resignation of Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena. The case is ongoing.
