Suniel Shetty reveals how his character Dev in ‘Dhadkan’ helped him win his first award

Suniel Shetty, a popular Bollywood actor, recently shared how his character Dev from the 2000 film ‘Dhadkan’ helped him win his first Filmfare Award for Best Villain.

The actor revealed that Director Dharmesh Darshan had told him that he would love the character of Dev and was guaranteed to receive an award for the role.

This gave Suniel Shetty the confidence to take on the role, despite many people believing he only existed in the industry because of his action films.

Unfortunately, Suniel Shetty let go of the film due to his shoot commitments.

However, Dharmesh Darshan needed convincing with the replacement and waited for Suniel Shetty to adjust his dates.

Suniel learned an important lesson about acting: acting is about believing in the character and your confidence.

‘Dhadkan’ is a romantic film starring Akshay Kumar, Shilpa Shetty, and Suniel Shetty in lead roles.

The story was inspired by Emily Bronte’s 1847 novel Wuthering Heights.

The film took around three to four years to make, and Suniel’s role as Dev was the one that won him his first Filmfare Award for Best Villain.

Suniel Shetty did several action films in the 1990s and later acted in other genres like romance and comedy.

Currently, he is part of the web series ‘Hunter – Tootega Nahi, Todega.’ However, Suniel’s experience with ‘Dhadkan’ taught him a valuable lesson and helped him in his future acting roles.

Suniel Shetty appeared as a celebrity guest on the singing reality show ‘Indian Idol 13’ on Sony Entertainment Television.
